Meet Rachel.

With a keen interest in all things copy and content, Rachel joins the team as part of her professional placement with Swinburne University of Technology.

Drawing on a strong background in Professional Writing and Editing, Rachel will keep a keen editorial eye across all facets of the office.

From content production and ensuring our grammatical syntax is saintly, right through to account management and client service, Rachel’s ready to jump into a full-court press as part of team August. That’s a concept she’s comfortable with. As a keen—and talented—basketballer, Rachel played at college level while living abroad in the United States. Swish!

Now that she’s back on home soil, we caught up with Rachel to chat playlists, inspiring vampires, and more.

If you won the lottery, would you still work?

Absolutely, I would get bored if I didn’t! The work would have to be meaningful though. I’d love to do volunteer work around the world—there’s always something that needs to be said or done.

If there was one musician’s concert (past or present) that you could attend, who would it be?

I know Fleetwood Mac recently toured, but it would have been an absolute experience to see them live in their prime.

What’s on your music playlist right now?

Such a mix! Cub Sport, Drake (always), Maggie Rogers, Tame Impala, T swift, Hayden James. Honestly, the list goes on.

If you could meet one writer (past or present), who would it be and what’s the one question you would ask him or her?

Probably Bram Stoker. Dracula is a piece of work that literally changed gothic literature and helped shape the fantasy genre—especially in film! I’d probably ask him if he thought about the impact writing something like Dracula would have on the world.

What’s one skill you’re hoping to improve this year?

There are so many skills that I need, and hope, to expand on. I’m particularly interested to develop a better understanding of how copywriters operate within a digital agency, and I’m eager to learn how a whole multidisciplinary team works together to deliver on a clients requirements or aspirations for future projects.
